June 11th to 14th 2009 at Grandborough Fields Rugby
This years meet was hosted by Coventry DA. Weather wise the sun came out, not like the previous weekend for the working party it rained most of Saturday with some sleet thrown in for good measure, boy was it cold. Sunday was just as bad, then just as the party tents went up it stopped raining. Sunday afternoon saw the working party migrate onto the main field. Then it was set the rest of the field up. A couple of real good down pours through the week, but the field drained well. A really well supported event with about 250 units out. Thursday when some of the units rolled up they could go into the marquee where they had a choice of tea and coffee, there was a Raffle and Tombola (set up by Linda) with some great prizes being donated..
Thursday night a Disco (by the name of Simply Disco with Simon and Paul) in the marquee putting the dances through the paces with the party dances, with a bit of karaoke as well.
Friday more stewarding "where did they all come from". Friday nights entertainment was supplied by Impossible Dream, with Simply Disco filling in. A bar for a refreshing pint was put on by Ian Webster, Laura and Ben. Thanks go to them for a brilliant bar.
Saturday saw the Opening Ceremony, then the volley ball heats were played most of the day but for a short break for the Mardi Gras. was very colourful. The larger group category was won by Northants, their theme was Les Miserable with Coventry coming second with Showboat. North Warwick's won the smaller groups category with Saturday Night Fever. Entertainment on the Saturday night was supplied by The 80's Affair with the Simply Disco filling in with their party dances during their breaks. If you were not taking part in the games there were a few trade stands to walk round and a inflatable slide for the kids
Sunday saw the meet kick off with the Sunday Service in the marquee, then the family games started for The Horace Ring-rose Trophy which this year was won by Coventry. The finals of the volley ball were between North Warwick's and Notts to which North Warwick's won. "Well done North Warwicks"
Just before the closing Ceremony many thanks went out to various people and organisations for their contributions and sponsorship, the signs and the trailer were done by stage was done by Darren Bishop, the use of the trailer from Jeff Buckler Transport, Kia and Broad Lane caravans for sposorship. Then the presentation of the trophies to the winning teams, Closing Ceremony commenced at 1.PM, where people either chilled out for a while or packed up for a safe tow home.
